This dental tools sterilizing unit was used by Dr. Onstad during his practice in Baudette. The lid opens and a basket sits inside in which the tools are placed for sterilization. A spigot on the side drains the liquid out after the process is complete.
Dr. E.A. Onstad was born Feb 5, 1900 in Madison and moved to Park Rapids. There he met Virginia and the two were married June 7, 1924.
The newlyweds moved to Baudette where Dr. Onstad set up his practice, which he purchased from Dr. Schram. His office was located in the Williams Block in downtown Baudette. This block was wiped out in a fire on Dec 26, 1929 and Dr. Onstad’s estimated loss was $7,000 (a large sum of money in 1929).
At the end of the following month, Dr. Onstad had set up new quarters on the second floor of the First National Bank. New equipment, including the latest in X-ray machines, was installed. A daughter, Janet, was born to the Onstads in 1932.
In 1949, Dr. Onstad moved his office (still housed within First National Bank) and a new dentist, Dr. M.A. Van Etta, opened a practice. Dr. Onstad passed away in Florida on Nov. 26, 1966. …
